Corporal Raymond Alyre Arsenault, USMC, was born on 10 January 1924 in Massachusetts (probably New Bedford) to Wilfred "Fred" and Laura Marie (Cormier) Arsenault.
Sometime after 1942 (when he filled out his draft card) he joined the US Marine Corps. He was with the 4th Marine Division when they assaulted Iwo Jima (19 Feb to 26 Mar 1945) where he was killed on 2 Mar 1945.
He was initially interred in the 4th Marine Division Cemetery at Iwo Jima (see photo). In 1949 he was exhumed and re-interred at the National Memorial Cemetery, Honolulu, Hawaii, commonly called "The Punchbowl".

He is predeceased by his father Wilfred Arsenault, and survived by his mother, Laura Marie (Cormier) Arsenault, three brothers, Oscar Wilfred, Norman, and Roger Aresnault, and two sisters, Bertha and Doris Arsenault.
