Obituary on funeral home web site: Chapin - Services for Louise Slice Derrick, 75, will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2002 at 3:00 PM, at Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church, Chapin, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Ralph Hill. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Caughman-Harman Funeral Homes, Chapin Chapel. Memorials may be made to Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church Building Fund. Mrs. Derrick, widow of John Derrick, died Saturday, September 21, 2002. Born in Lexington County, she was a daughter of the late Elbert and Cora Frick Slice. She was a member of Mt. Horeb Lutheran Church and a former member of the Rebecca Circle, AARP and the Dutch Forkers. A special thanks is given to the staff at the Adria Wing of the Lowman Home. She is survived by sons, David Moray Derrick of Irmo; daughters, Catherine Nelson and Peggy Moates of Chapin, six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brothers, J.W. Slice and Guy Slice of Chapin. Mrs. Derrick was preceded in death by a son, Cecil Derrick and two sisters, Irene Stoudemire and Mary Meetze.
