Retha Paulk Strobo Strickland, died on January 1, 2011 at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman, GA where she had been in residence for several months. She was born in Grangerburg, AL, youngest of the 8 children of Joseph Alfred Paulk and Minnie Lee Harp. She married S. W. "Scotty" Strobo and moved to New York City where she and her family lived for 5 years. The family relocated to Thomasville, GA in 1942 where Mrs. Strickland resided for 68 years.

Several years after leaving the workforce, Mrs. Strickland returned to school and received her nursing license. She was employed as a nurse at Archbold Hospital and Vashti School. She was very active at East Side Baptist Church and Dawson Street Baptist Church where she was involved in several positions of service: Sunday School teacher, G.A. Leader, S.S. Department Director, choir member, etc.

She was preceded in death by husbands S. W. "Scotty" Strobo and Wiley Strickland; sisters Fluera Guy, Lottie Cole, Duma Devol, and Pauline Enfinger; brothers James Dewey Paulk, James Alfred Paulk, and L.D. Paulk.

She is survived by son Raymond Strobo and daughter-in-law Winifred; granddaughter Camille and husband, David; granddaughter Kristina and husband, Gardner; great-grandchildren Nathan, Noah, Nicholas, Will, Maddie, Worth, and Wyatt; nieces Patricia, Barbara, Margaret, Mildred, Eilene, Paula, Sue, and Peggy, nephews Charles, Jerry, Dan and Robert; and many other family and friends.
