NORTH VERNON -- Mary L. Hammond, 82, of Elizabethtown died at 1:50 a.m. Thursday, March 11, 1999, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
She was a former employee of Union Bank and Trust in North Vernon and former manager of the Scipio branch of the bank.
She was a member of Rock Creek United Methodist Church in Geneva Township, American War Mothers, Columbus Emmaus Community, and Business and Professional Women's Club and Smiling Seniors, both in North Vernon.
She was a 1936 graduate of Hayden High School.
Funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Dove-Sharp and Rudicel Funeral Home with the Rev. Bert J. Reed officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus.
Memorials may be made to Columbus Emmaus Community.
Mrs. Hammond was born in Jennings County Aug. 26, 1916, the daughter of Benjamin and Emma Boner Eveleth. She was the widow of Paul Herbert Hammond who died Feb. 28, 1956.
She is survived by a son, James Hammond of Scipio; a sister, Lois Bailey of Evansville; grandchildren, Andrew Hammond of Columbus, Mont Hammond of Vernon, Jennifer and Dennis Hammond, both Scipio, Paul Hammond of Scottsburg and Tina Hammond of North Vernon; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jack Lee Hammond; and a sister, Helen Hooper.
