Clarice Sanders, 88, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007, at Columbus Regional Hospital. She was a resident of Edinburgh.

She was born Dec. 13, 1918, in Shelby County to the late George B. and Rose (Gephart) Pruitt. She married Carl D. Sanders on Feb. 10, 1939. He preceded her in death June 9.

Survivors include a son, Joseph (Doris) Sanders of Edinburgh; two stepgrandchildren, Jeff and Teresa Stickford of Waldron; and a sister, Doris Tucker of Hope.

She was preceded in death by a half brother, Mose Pruitt; and three half sisters, Georgena Groves, Gladys Armstrong and Jessie Redmond.

She was a graduate of Mount Auburn High School in 1936.

She was a member of St. George Lutheran Church in Edinburgh since 1939. She was baptized at Jollity Methodist Church, then transferred to St. George. She was also a member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 476 in Edinburgh, which later merged with O.E.S. Chapter 439 in Franklin. She was a past worthy matron and belonged to Past Matron and Past Patron Club in Franklin. She was a member of the Edinburgh American Legion Auxiliary 233.

She was a former employee of Kohlmeier Drug Store, JayC Store and Bob-O-Link, all in Edinburgh.

The Rev. Jerry Curry will conduct a funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday at St. George Lutheran Church, 10931 S. County Road 600W, Edinburgh. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E. Main Cross St., and from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church. An Eastern Star service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. George Cemetery in Edinburgh.

Mrs. Sanders was a 1936 graduate of Mount Auburn High School and a former employee of Kohlmeier Drug Store, JayC Foods and the Bob-O-Link, all in Edinburgh.

Baptized at Jollity Methodist Church, she transferred membership to St. George Lutheran Church east of Edinburgh in 1939. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star No. 476 at Edinburgh which later merged with Franklin OES No. 439. She also was a member of Past Matrons and Past Patrons Club at Franklin and Edinburgh American Legion Auxiliary No. 233.
