Thompson, James H. HQ, VII Bomber Command, G.O. No. 62 (1942)
Mr Thompson enlisted in the U. S. Army Air Corps in November 1940. He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II as a member of the 11th Bomb Group; in the Korean conflict and had a tour of duty in Germany during the Berlin Airlift. While serving in the Pacific, his plane was shot down and he spent seven days on a raft before being rescued. He flew 51 missions and was decorated with the Silver Star and Bronze Star. He retired with the rank of Master Sargent in October 1960.
