Family information said he is buried in the Bloomfield Cemetery. There is no record of him being here, and the funeral home that handled the funeral no longer exists. He was living in Bloomfield at the time of his death. Family notes and Bibles say he was buried in Bloomfield. His wife (Amanda Hill McLard) changed the spelling of his last name to McLaird because she said McLard sounded too hard. Family lore said someone researched the name in Scotland and came up with the McLaird spelling. His children by his first wife spelled the last name as McLard or McClard. Children by his second wife spelled their name McLaird.
