Gresham resident Dorothy Marie Carver, 86, died Saturday, Dec. 25, at her home.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 S.E. Mt. Scott Blvd., Portland.

Dorothy was born March 22, 1924, in Douglas, Wyo., to Clyde and Ruby (McMillian) Gumm. She was raised and educated on the family farm until meeting Forrest Carver, whom she married on Aug. 28, 1945, in Vancouver, Wash. The couple then made their home in Portland. Dorothy worked as a waitress and at Twin-City Bakery for more than six years while her children attended school. She lived in Welches from 1997 to 2003 before moving to Gresham in 2009.

Dorothy was active in the Foursquare Church, where she taught Sunday School and was involved with the youth program.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987; and sons, Rodney Carver in 1964 and Gene Carver in 2007. Survivors include her daughter, Wanda Warner of Portland; one grandson; and two great-grandchildren.
