Crews – Verna L. Crews, age 81, of Macclenny, Florida passed away June 5, 2014 at Acosta-Rua Center for Caring with family by her side. She was born in Raiford, Florida on February 8, 1933 to the late Frank Hodges and Minnie Barber Hodges. Verna has been a lifelong resident of Baker County where she was a dedicated member of the Road to Calvary Church. She loved attending church to worship her Lord and Savior. Verna was a Prayer Chain Warrior. She enjoyed reading Christian love stories, gardening, and spending time with her family. Verna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 20 years, Lonnie Wilkerson and her husband of 37 years, R.C. Crews; her brothers, Edward, Elic, Earl, and Joshua "Doc" Hodges; and her sisters, Rosie Hodges Griffis and Victoria Hodges Raulerson.
Verna is survived by her loving children, Vivian (Raymond) Crews of Macclenny, FL, Ann (Steve) Brown of Lake Butler, FL, Wanda (Larry) Prevatt of Macclenny, FL, Cecil (Shirley) Wilkerson of Macclenny, FL, Rick (Angie) Crews of Glen St. Mary, FL, Danny Crews of Macclenny, FL, and Joyce Smith of Mayo, FL; her brother, Ledley (Oberly) Brown of Tallahassee, FL; her 22 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and 29 great-great grandchildren; and her loving pet, Prissy Crews.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 11:00 am at V. Todd Ferreira Funeral Service with Pastor Tommy Anderson and Pastor Tommy Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 6, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the funeral home. The arrangements are under the care and direction of V.
