Grace, age 95, was a retired school teacher who taught first grade for 15 years at Island School. The San Diego native had been a Hanford resident for 72 years. She married the late Fred Marcellus on December 17, 1922 in Fresno and the couple was married for 65 years. For their honeymoon, the couple hiked from Hospital Rock to Giant Forest and a ranger met them halfway through their trek with snowshoes. Grace was a 1922 graduate of Fresno Normal School with a teaching credential. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hanford where she had served as president of the Women's Association. She was also a member of the California Teachers Association and the National Education Association, a life member of the Kings Art League, and she also was a past Kings County Homecoming Queen. Grace and Fred had a son, Robert Eugene, and a daughter, Dorothy.
