She had hair so long she could sit on it.Everyone called her "Mamie".
An autograph book compiled when she and her father made a scouting trip prior to moving the family from Missouri to California (came for her father's health reasons) She was President of the Selma Improvement Club in 1925 and was Vice
President of the IOOF Orphans Home. She lived at 2244 Kerkhoff in Fresno and 1420 Rose Ave. in Selma. Article in Selma Irrigator gives the following personal information: "150 friends attended their 55th wedding anniversary
celebration. Her sister Mrs. J. G. Atkins and her brother, Oscar DeWitt, both of Los Angeles, and her brother Aldo DeWitt and his wife of Winton were also present. Before her marrige, she was Miss Mamie DeWitt, duaghter of M/M T. B.
DeWitt. She was married to Mr. Say at the home of her parents on Bethel Avenue. Mr. Say has been a resident of Selma since 1874 and Mrs. Say came here with her parents from Missouri in 1884. Mr. and Mrs. Say have made their home
in Selma since their marriage with the exception of 4 years Mr. Say spent in Alaska and 1 year in San Diego. The honored couple have one son, Lyle H. Say who makes his home near Selma. Mr. Say was engaged in wheat farming until 1980
when he became a vineyardist. The 1880 soundex for Adair Co. MO lists the family of T. B. DeWitt and wife Madlen. Mary E. is listed as a dau, age 17 born in Mo.

According to her Grandson, Jack, Mamie died in her sleep at the Rose Avenue family home.
Her husband was out of town on an Odd Fellows trip in San Jose, and Mamie's sister, Ella, was staying with her. He also remembers that whenever the doorbell would ring, she would just up and be so excited, just like a kid, at the prospect of company. He said that she never raised her voice, but could get Great Grandchildren or anyone else to do what she wanted just by asking.
