OBITUARY: Paris Progress, Monday, September 11, 1950
Funeral Sunday For Mr. Birkhead
Funeral service for Horace Birkhead, age 75 years of Paris, who died Saturday morning at 7:25 at Sparks Memorial Hospital, Fort Smith, was held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at Elizabeth Hall, New Blaine, with Bro. Roy Ruckman, minister of the Church of Christ, Paris, officiating. The Cox Funeral Home directed burial in Elizabeth Hall cemetery.
Mr. Birkhead, who was engaged in the lumber business in Logan county for many years, had been in ill health the past several months. He was born in New Blaine, November 17, 1874; and resided in that community until moving to Paris seven years ago. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Paris.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ida Birkhead; a daughter, Mrs. Audit Kincannon, Fort Smith; a step-daughter, Miss Jewell Copeland of the home; two sons, Lindell and Carl Birkhead, both of Paris; six brothers, Jim Birkhead, Paris, L. W. and O. B. Birkhead, New Blaine, Ira B. and A. B. Birkhead, Little Rock and B. M. Birkhead of Ola; and eight grandchildren, Bruce, Barbara, Eleanor, Carlotta, Mary and Janice Birkhead all of Paris and Larry and Barry Kincannon of Fort Smith.
