The funeral service for James G. Batz, 78, of Mundelein, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, at the Kristan Funeral Home P.C., 219 West Maple Avenue, Mundelein.
Interment will follow in Diamond Lake Cemetery.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8;00 p.m. on Thursday at the Funeral Home.

Born June 11, 1932 in Diamond Lake, he passed away peacefully on December 27, 2010 at his home.

Mr. Batz was a veteran of the Army. He was a retired union roofer, mostly with Waukegan Roofing. Jim was an avid vacationer and spent winters in Arizona for the past twenty-three years, and a great shuffler in which he won many awards and trophies.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jennie Thomas Batz; loving children, Bill (Cindy) Batz, Dale (Michele) Batz, Lyn (Kim) Batz, Linda (George) Patterson, Eddie (Tess) Holloway and Cheryl Baskins; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and his former wife, Barbara Batz. He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Amelia Batz, his step-mother Lenore Batz; his siblings, Charlie Batz, Rosie Mittlestadt, and August Batz Jr.; and his grandchild, Jonathon.
