Mae Percifield
Mae Percifield, 92, Kokomo, died at 6:44 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at Windsor Estates Health & Rehab Center in Kokomo.
She was born in Brown County on Oct, 23, 1917, to Allen and Jessie (Grout) Percifield. Mae grew up in a log cabin in Brown County.
Mae had taught at Howard Elementary in Howard County for 32 years and also taught in Brown County and South Bend. She was a graduate of Brown County High School, graduated from Canterbury Teachers College and received a master's degree from Ball State University in Muncie.
She was a member of Kokomo Zion United Methodist Church, the Indiana State Teachers Association and Howard County Teachers Association.
Mae enjoyed traveling, quilting and gardening.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother George Percifield; and three sisters, Ruth Neal, Janet Ferron and an infant sister.
A service was to be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29 at Kokomo Zion United Methodist Church with Pastor John Hogsett officiating. A private family graveside service was planned at Greenlawn Cemetery in Nashville Visitation was from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home.
