Mrs. Louise Ellis Dies In Coast Hospital

Mrs. Louise Spencer Ellis, widow of Pearis Buckner Ellis, died at two o'clock this morning at the Patterson Convalescent and Rest Home in San Leandro, CA.

Born in Bangor, ME, Mrs. Ellis was the daughter of the late Albert J. and Sarah Warren T. Spencer.

She was prominent in Nevada Women's Club activities and served two terms as president of the Nevada Federation of Women's Clubs and thereafter as general federation director in the national councils. During the World War Mrs. Ellis served as chairman for Nevada in the United States Council for National Defense and she held the office of president for several terms and was a member of Twentieth Century Club of Reno and the Western Federation of Woman's Clubs.

She was past matron of Eastern Star Chapter No. 1, Carson City, in which she acted as treasurer for several years, and was a member of the Episcopal Church.

Mrs. Ellis was an accomplished linguist, some years ago she published Sunbeams and Reflections.

A daughter, Mrs. Anne Louise Sampson of Carson City, and a brother, G. A. Sampson of San Diego, CA, survive.

Cremation will be at the Chapel of the Chimes, Oakland, at two o'clock tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon.
