Druggist of Early Days Passes Away
Dr. H. G. Brownfield Had Resided Here for 41 Years
A resident of Monrovia for 41 years and a pioneer druggist of this city, Dr. Herman G. Brownfield, 80 years of age, died last evening at his home, 120 E. Lime Ave. Dr. Brownfield was born in Utica, Iowa, Nov. 8, 1866.
After graduating from medical school he practiced his profession for several years in Iowa and then made a trip to Monrovia. At that time this city had a population of 3,000 persons and only one doctor which prompted Dr. Brownfield to move to Monrovia. But by the time he had settled his affairs in Iowa and returned here, there were six doctors in Monrovia. Turning from the practice of medicine, Dr. Brownfield purchased the pioneer Ben Crews' drug store at Lemon and Myrtle which he sold to Black and Boal in 1919.
Dr. Brownfield built the home on East Lime where he resided with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. And Mrs. W. W. Crandall and where he passed away.
Family Survives
Survivors of Dr. Brownfield are a son, Herman P. Brownfield of Corona,
two daughters, Mrs. Pearl B. Callen or Arcadia and Mrs. Hazel B. Crandall of Monrovia;
a sister, Mrs. Mary Moberly of Versailles, Mo.;
a brother, C. P. Brownfield of Monrovia;
five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Dr. Brownfield was a life member of Pasadena Lodge 672, B. P. O. E.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m.. at the chapel of the W. B. Temple Mortuary with the Rev. Paul V. Goodwin officiating. Interment will be made in Live Oak Cemetery.

Druggist of Early Days Passes Away
Dr. H. G. Brownfield Had Resided Here for 41 Years
A resident of Monrovia for 41 years and a pioneer druggist of this city, Dr. Herman G. Brownfield, 80 years of age, died last evening at his home, 120 E. Lime Ave. Dr. Brownfield was born in Utica, Iowa, Nov. 8, 1866.
After graduating from medical school he practiced his profession for several years in Iowa and then made a trip to Monrovia. At that time this city had a population of 3,000 persons and only one doctor which prompted Dr. Brownfield to move to Monrovia. But by the time he had settled his affairs in Iowa and returned here, there were six doctors in Monrovia. Turning from the practice of medicine, Dr. Brownfield purchased the pioneer Ben Crews' drug store at Lemon and Myrtle which he sold to Black and Boal in 1919.
Dr. Brownfield built the home on East Lime where he resided with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. And Mrs. W. W. Crandall and where he passed away.
