Cheryl A. Edwards, 51, of Martinsville passed from this life at 1:39 p.m. on Thursday, December 30th, 2010 surrounded by her loving family.

Cheryl was born March 24, 1959 in Bloomington, Indiana, to the late Jack L. Applegate and Nila (Myers) Applegate, who survives.

On October 22, 1980 she married Michael R. Edwards.

She was a graduate of Martinsville High School with the class of 1978 and a member of Eastview Christian Church in Martinsville. She was a loving and devoted mother, wife and grandmother. She had worked at several local area daycare centers as a teacher and childcare provider. Cheryl had a passion for children and thoroughly enjoyed teaching them and watching them grow and learn. She touched the lives of many children over the years, one especially, Mattie Pardue, whose family has become near and dear to the Edwards'. She also enjoyed mushroom hunting and genealogy.

Cheryl was actively involved with her own children through boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She was also a supporter and volunteer with the Morgan County Relay for Life and fond of her involvement and friendships at Camp Blue Bird in Camby.

She will be sadly missed by her family and friends including her mother, Nila Applegate of Martinsville; husband of 30 years, Michael R. Edwards of Martinsville; son, Matthew Edwards of Bloomington; daughter, Cheri (Brent) Hayden of Martinsville; two brothers, Mike (Becky) Applegate of Gosport and Mark (Kim) Applegate of Mooresville; two sisters, Sharon (Stan) Barnes of Gosport and Karen Myers of Las Vegas, NV; and one granddaughter, Brie A. Hayden.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, January 3rd from 4-8:00 p.m. and from 9-10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 4th at Eastview Chrisitan Church, 2745 Old Morgantown Rd., Martinsville. Rev. Norman Ward will officiate at a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 4th at the church. She will be laid to rest in Friendship Park Cemetery in Paragon. Arrangements have been entrusted to Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center, Martinsville.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Quality of Life Foundation, 2209 John R. Wooden Drive, Martinsville, IN 46151 in her memory.
