Rome was a daughter of Henry R. Ripley and Lydia Bargar. She was engaged to Edward V. Sproul (#102878164) of Stillwater who died after breaking his collar bone in an accident. She married in 1897 to Ephraim Johnson Furney as his second wife, and they had no children. They lived in a house next to the general store at Stillwater their entire lives. As a widow, Rome moved to Uhrichsville to live with her sister, Ivah and after Ivah's death she moved in with her niece, Helen Perkins. Rome is buried next to her father and mother. E.J. is buried next to his first wife and infant son at Lima. She was the keeper of the family history and a truly gentle soul.
