Her parents were C.W. and Minnie Spencer LaRue and was the sixth of seven children who grew to adulthood. Her mother, Minnie, died early in 1932. In Margie's early years, she attended many different public schools in eastern Oklahoma as her father moved often where jobs were available. She graduated from Porum High School, in Porum, OK, in 1938.

On April 11, 1943, she married Leo Talkington in Los Angeles, CA where both worked at North American Aircraft. In 1948, the family moved to Leo's home town of Verden, OK, to own and operate the family business Wayside Cafe and filling station with M.C. and Mae Talkington Spradley. The business was originally owned by Orgel and Orville Talkington. Later in October, 1948, second son, Dennis, was born in Anadarko, OK. The business was fully owned and operated by Leo Talkington's when M.C. Spradleys moved to OKC, OK, in 1954. They continued operating the business another 16+ years which was later sold to Vivian Hughes' family.

Margie had also been secretary of the Methodist Church where she was a member for many years and was Verden Town Clerk and worked with Alma Griffith in Alma's dress shop in Anadarko after the sale of the Talkington business. She was a P.T.A. president and she and Leo were class parents for both Keith and Dennis' classes all through their school years.

Preceding her in death was husband, Leo, in January 20, 1979; parents C.W. and Minnie LaRue; brother W.L. LaRue; sisters Pearl McMurray and Elma Monroe.
