Mrs. George Ward Taken by Death
Mrs. George (Suzanne) Ward passed away at the Fillmore County hospital in Geneva February 15, 1971, at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 15 days.
Mrs. Ward, a daughter of Theodore and Fannie Voigtlander, was born November 20, 1881, on a farm east of Geneva. She spent her entire life in this area. She was married to George Ward of near Geneva in 1904. They lived on a farm north of Geneva until after Mr. Ward's death in 1945. In the late 1940's she moved to a home in Geneva and spent the remaining years of her life here. A stroke in 1969 left her partially paralyzed and she moved to Heritage of Geneva, residing there except for time spent in the hospital.
Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by her husband, her son Alva, a grandson Willard and two sisters, Mrs. William Fultz and Mrs. Frank Battle.
She leaves to mourn her passing her daughter, Mrs. Lewis (Helen) Albro; her son-in-law, Lewis Albro; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Mable Ward; two granddaughters, Mrs. Marie Aspegren and Mrs. Carol Sieber, both of Geneva, and their husbands; 10 great-grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Laura Griess of Falls City Nursing Home, Falls City, Neb.
Mrs. Ward was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, receiving her 50-year pin in 1962, and was active in other organizations in the community until her health became impaired. She was a past matron of the Eastern Star.
Funeral services were held at the Farmer-Harris Funeral Home in Geneva at 2 p.m. Thursday February 18, Rev. Delano Spitzer officiating. Mrs. Harold A. Rosenau sang "In the Garden" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Mrs. Willard Foster was accompanist. Pallbearers were Fred Fisher, Kenneth Fisher, Orville Dunkin, Charles A. Grothe, Jesse Richards and Lester Souba. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
