CADIZ, Ky. -- James "Porkchop" Hopson, 61, of Cadiz died Saturday at his home.

Mr. Hopson was a member of Canton Baptist Church, a member of Little River Baptist Men's Choir and a retired maintenance worker for Phelps Dodge with 30 years of service.

Survivors include his wife, Denise Hopson; two sons, James Hopson Jr. of Hopkinsville and Scotty Hopson, a student at the University of Tennessee; three stepsons, James Murphy of Charleston, S.C., Ronald Murphy of Covington and Darron Murphy of Hopkinsville; one daughter, Joy L. Hopson of Hopkinsville; one stepdaughter, Sharlette Hayes of Chicago; two sisters, Pauline Redd of Orange, Calif., and Charlene Redd of Cadiz; two grandchildren; and nine stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Lee Hopson and Mary Bacon Hopson; one brother; and one sister.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at King's Funeral Home. Burial will be at Canton Baptist Church Cemetery.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
