Ida is the daughter of Charles Tappa and Inga Krohn of Michigan and Minnesota. Her younger brother is Charles Leroy Tappa and her younger sister is Ione Marie Tappa Draper. Ida married Edward James Fussell April 19, 1945 in Oakland, CA. Edward was from Rose Hill, North Carolina and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Together, they had three children: Gary in 1946, Charles in 1947 and Susan in 1951. Edward died March 25, 1962 in Sunnyvale, CA. Ida then married Robert T. Dale on Nov 13, 1966 in Reno, Nevada.
