MISHAWAKA - Martha J. Vandeventer, 68, of Mishawaka, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, following an extended illness. Martha was born October 16, 1942, in Paintsville, KY, to the late Daniel and Minnie Arms. On April 18, 1992, she married Gayle L. Vandeventer Sr., who preceded her in death, passing away in 2004. Surviving are her daughters, Tina (Jim) Bauer of Warsaw, IN, and Wendy Wear of Mishawaka, as well as her step children, Gayle L. (Cheryl) Vandeventer of Jimtown, IN, David Vandeventer, Chris Vandeventer, Pamela Reed, and Bobbi (Ronald) Woodruff, all of Mishawaka, and Debbie (Art) Holderman of Elkhart. Surviving as well are three grandchildren, Charles Hall and Chad Hall, both of Warsaw, IN, and Jessica Hall of Marion, IN. Martha is also survived by two great grandchildren, Audrey and Tyson Sherwood, along with 12 step grandchildren and 12 step great grandchildren, and her siblings Roy Arms of Paintsville, KY, Dorothy Hatton of Winchester, KY, and Shirley Walls of Bremen, IN. Preceding her in death was her granddaughter, Desiree Hall, and her siblings, Howard Arms, Richard Arms, and Helen Arms. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to the 3 p.m. funeral service on Monday, January 3, 2011 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Osceola. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Martha was a graduate of Mead Memorial High School in Paintsville, KY. She was employed for over 25 years at Kimble Glass in Warsaw, and after her retirement she worked in the laundry at Regency Place Nursing Home, South Bend. She enjoyed knitting and doing crafts, sewing and scrap booking, as well as being by the water and sitting by the campfire. She also was a member of the Honda Gold Wing Road Riders Association for many years. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Cor. 13:13 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Susan G. Komen Foundation .
