CALLISON

Leland Irwin Callison was born October 24, 1899 in Lamar, Mo. and moved to Chariton at the age of ten. His parents were Lewis Emerson and Cloe Clevenger Callison.

He graduated from Chariton High School in 1920 and recently attended the class reunion in Des Moines. After attending Drake University, Leland worked with youth at the YMCA, was director of Priscilla Wayne's Orphanage and was responsible for the park at 4th and Vine in West Des Moines. For the past thirty-four years he has been owner-operator of an antique store, the West Des Moines Trading Post.

Leland passed away at his home August 5 of a heart attack.

Survivors are two brothers, L. B. Callison of Chariton and Lewis J. Callison of West Covina, Calif., two nephews, Dr. Richard Callison of Bunceton, Mo. and Rod Callison of West Covina, Calif., many other relatives and a host of friends.

Services were held August 8 at McLaren Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines with interment at the Chariton Cemetery.
