Katherine A. Mordasky, 93, of 251 Hydeville Road, Stafford Springs, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by loving family members on Sunday (December 26, 2010).

She was born in Torrington on November 18, 1917, daughter of the late Francis, Sr. and Sophia (Dunay) Mordasky.

Katherine was a faithful communicant of St. Edward Church, and member of Court Isabella #785 Catholic Daughters of America and the Stafford Grange No. 1.

After graduating from Stafford High and Baypath Jr. College, she worked at the Springfield Armory. She then joined the United States Marine Corps and served as a Private First Class during World War II while stationed in Washington, DC and Hawaii. She returned to the Springfield Armory and then worked at Shamut bank until retiring.

She loved flowers, gardening, playing cards, the Boston Red Sox, UConn Women's Basketball, and was a very caring person to all who needed her.

She was predeceased by her four sisters Julia, Mary, Antoinette, and Helen; and a brother Francis. Katherine leaves behind a brother, John Mordasky and his wife Rosemary; and a sister-in-law, Jill Mordasky, all of Stafford. She also leaves twenty-four nieces and nephews; forty-two grand-nieces and nephews; and thirty-one great-grand-nieces and nephews.

A calling hour will be held on Monday (January 3, 2011) from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main Street, Stafford Springs, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Edward Church, High Street, Stafford Springs, CT.
Burial with full military honors accorded will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT.
