Myrl Spackman Bright, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, returned home to his Heavenly Father and the welcoming arms of his loved ones on Monday, Dec. 27, 2010.
He was born Aug. 1, 1924, in Richmond, Utah, to his parents Chester and Francis Bright. He was the youngest of seven children and enjoyed growing up on the family farm in Richmond. He attended North Cache High and left school as a junior to take full responsibility of the farm when his Dad was taken ill.
On May 27, 1943, he married the love of his life, Beulah Smith. They were blessed with two daughters. Beulah preceded him in death on Nov. 25, 1975.
Myrl served his country valiantly during World War II on the islands of the Philippines for four years. Upon his return he and Beulah relocated to Ogden, Utah, where they enjoyed raising their family, making lifetime friends and enjoying life. He was employed as a tool and die maker at Hill Air Force Base from 1936 to 1980. After Beulah's death in 1975 he met his good friend Eileen Black at HAFB. They became sweethearts and were married on April 3, 1981, and enjoyed each other's love, sense of humor and combined families until Eileen's death on July 19, 2010.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Myrl led a life full of love and compassionate service for others. He was always the first to arrive when anyone was in need whether it be family, friends, neighbors, ward members or strangers. He was very accepting of everyone and never pre-judged or asked any questions.
Myrl was a great mechanic, loved working on cars, and could fix anything whether it be a car or any little gadget around the house. Nothing was too big of a challenge for him. He loved hunting of all kinds, as well as camping, fishing and traveling in the motor home; but most of all he loved family. He was a great Dad, grandpa and friend.
He was a man full of kindness, patience, good manners, and most of all, love.
He is survived by his children, Judy (Stan) Sargent, of South Weber, Pam Bright, of Dickinson, N.D., Phillip (Loralee) Black of Clearfield, Phyllis Allen of Eagle Mountain; 14 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Preceding Myrl in death are his parents; his wife, Beulah; his wife, Eileen; four sisters, Zola Allen, Edna Nelson, Mable Purser, Stella Thornley; and two brothers, La Moni Bright and Dale Bright.
