Henry was born on August 31, 1930 in Pender, Nebraska, the son of Henry and Marie (Vosteen) Ahlers. He entered the U.S. Army on February 6, 1952, served in Korea, and was honorably discharged on November 5, 1953. He farmed for a short while, later moving to Omaha and then Lincoln where he worked for Wesleyan University. He had been in the Veterans Home in Norfolk. Henry enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and his family.
Henry is survived by his children: Sandra (Tom) Preister of Humphrey, NE and their children Leana Honebrink, and Daniel Preister; Thomas (Bonnie) Ahlers of Deer Creek, MN and their children Shana, John and Mike; Patricia (John) Jones of Logan, IA and their children Gabe and Mike; Terrence (Shelley) Ahlers of Omaha, NE and their children Alex and Chase; and Tammy (Tom) Allen of Missouri Valley, IA and their children Bo and Nick, and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister Norma Thompson
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, former spouse and family friend Mary Jacobsen, sisters: Pauline and husband Vernon Morse; and Mildred and husband Leo Stuckenschmidt.
