Well-known Waycrossean, Barbara Ann Gooden, 64, passed away Wednesday afternoon (December 29, 2010) at Earl B. Hadlow Center for Caring in Jacksonville, FL.
A lifelong resident of Waycross, she was the daughter of the late James and Christine Gooden. Barbara was a long-time employee of Atlantic Coast Credit Union and active in community and civil affairs until her retirement. Barbara was charter president of the Waycross Chapter of Business and Professional Women's Association and a member of the Waycross-Ware County Development Authority. She was a member of Crawford Street Baptist Church, and as of late attended Calvary Baptist Church.
Barbara is survived by her brother, Clarence Gooden, and his wife and daughter, Corkie and Sara of Jacksonville, FL; her uncle and aunts, Ellie and Margaret Royal of Waycross; and numerous cousins.
A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday (January 3, 2011) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
