Joyce "Deat" Sellers Long Hendricks, 66, of 700 Self St. formerly of Eaker Dr., died Dec. 27. 2010 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Kings Mountain on June 4, 1944 a daughter of the late Benson "Bence" Dewitt and Avel Burton Sellers. "Deat formerly employed by Bellsouth and Sweetree and was retired from Gaston County Schools food service and Keystone Carbon in the sizing department. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brother Jerry Sellers.
Survivors include her husband Ben W. Hendricks, sons Andy and Janet Lail Long of Cherryville, and Markus Long of Asheville, three grandchildren Leigh Long of Lawndale, and Christopher and Jessica Long of Vale, brother Ralph Sellers of Cherryville, sisters Doris Hoyle of Cherryville, Gladys Chapman and husband Gary of Crouse, Julie Carpenter and husband Kermit of Cherryville, and Jo Wright of Shelby, sister in law Joanne Sellers of Las Vegas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 AM at Carpenter's Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Schultz officiating with burial to follow in Mary's Grove Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday at the funeral home from 6-8 PM and at other times at the home of Doris Lail, 133 Oakley Lane, Cherryville.
