Barbara Louise Watson Velasquez, 76, passed away peacefully at her home in Hermiston, Oregon on Friday, December 24, 2010.
Barbara was born to John Pierpont and Ivy Mae (Smith) Morgan in Los Angeles, California on August 30, 1934. Barbara lived in Phoenix, Arizona, National City, California, and Molalla, Oregon.
She met Donald Richard Velasquez (from Salt Lake City, Utah) in Sante Fe, New Mexico and married him there on March 30, 1990.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and a faithful member of their Relief Society. She was a homemaker who liked to cook and spend time with her husband, even helping him build their home.
She is survived by husband, Donald of Hermiston, OR; son, Richard Olson of Mississippi; three daughters, Patty (Lee) Sheffield of Riverton, UT; Mende Charapata of Molalla, OR; and Billie (John) Bowles of Garibaldi, OR; sister, Betty (Walter) Smith of Springville, UT; brothers, Neal Christman (Christine) of Molalla, OR; and Noel Christman (Patrice) of San Diego, CA; fifteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Kenneth Morgan.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 3, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Chapel, 850 SW 11th Street, Hermiston.
Burial will follow in the Hermiston Cemetery.
