Lois “Joleen” Christensen, 75, a life-long resident of Peru, died at 5:25 a.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2006 at her daughter's residence in Westfield, surrounded by the people she spent her life loving and caring for, her children.

She was born on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, 1930 in Peru to David and Abigail Ebert Jackley.

She was retired from Farm Credit Services; was a life member of the First Baptist Church, Peru, and a member of the Carriage Club and the Red Hat Society.

Survivors include three sons, Chris Christensen and wife Janet, Nyona Lake, Carl Christensen and wife Paula, Peru, and Curt Christensen and wife Tracy, La Fontaine; a daughter, Teri Merritt and husband Dave, Westfield; six grandchildren, Christy Ann McGuire and husband Chris, Caitlin and Andrew Petry, David and Carly Christensen, and Kelly Click Childers; and three great-grandchildren, Trey Christensen and Masyn and Avery McGuire.

Joleen was an only child. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Jason Christensen.


Services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, Peru, with Dr. James Hardin officiating.

Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Peru.

Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
