Courier Gazette, McKinney, TX., Tuesday, June 22, 1982:
JAMES O. "JIMMIE" BELDEN, 81, who died this morning in a local hospital, was the Collin County Fire Marshall, active until three months ago when he became ill. A veteran firefighter who saw the first motorized equipment introduced in McKinney, Belden's career spanned more than 40 years. BELDEN, a life long resident of McKinney was born Sept 9, 1900, the son of J. O. and Ester Belden. He was a member of the First Christian Church. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Belden; a son, Jack Belden of Arlington ; two granddaughters, Amy & Kristy Belden ; two sisters, Mrs. Vera Goodner of McKinney & Mrs. Ann Steenson of Plano. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm Wednesday in Turrentine-Jackson -Morrow Chapel conducted by Rev. Leslie Hames, pastor of the First Christian Church. Burial will be in Ridgeview Memorial Park.
