During the Oct 10th 1943 mission to Munster they were attacked by fighters which caused a fire in the aircraft. Clark was unable to get his escape hatch open before the aircraft exploded. His body was interred on 11 Oct 1943 at Lienen Cemetary. This was the crew's 21st mission.
