Laurence Rawlin Guthrie graduated from the high school of Bloomfield, Iowa, in 1901;

Pioneered in Oklahoma Territory;

Graduated from Mt. Union College, Alliance, Ohio, in 1913, with the degree of A.B. and from Drew Theological Seminary, Madison, N.J., in 1914, with the degree of B.D.

Ordained to the gospel ministry by the Oklahoma Conference of the M.E. Church, Nov. 22, 1916

Served as a Y.M.C.A. secretary at Camp Donaphan, Okla.

Appointed Secretary of the International Committee of the Y.M.C.A. for service with the troops of the Italian Army alongside the Sixth Division, U. S. Army in France, Great Britain, Switzerland, and Italy. (1918-1919)

Served pastorates in New York, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Pennsylvania. He is the compiler of American Guthrie and Allied Families.

On March 19, 1974, Laurence R. Guthrie of Berwyn Heights, Md., father of Rosemary Guthrie, Elsie G. Cobun, James A., David V., and twin sons Ronald T. and Donald F. Guthrie; brother of Elsie G. Seville; he also is survived by 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Gasch's Funeral Home, Hyattsville, Md., on Thursday. Services at the Berwyn Heights United Presbyterian Church, 6301 Greenbelt Rd., College Park, Md., on Friday at 10:30 a.m. Interment Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville, Md.

Memorials may be made to the Hymnal of the above church.
