Born northeast of Lizton on December 8, 1840, Mary Elizabeth Leach was a daughter of Elias and Susan (Leak) Leach. Like her father, she was a school teacher. She married David Baker on April 27, 1867. They were the parents of one child, Arthur Milburn Baker. Mary died on October 9, 1918 and is buried in the Lizton K. of P. Cemetery.

Elder Morro was called to preach the funeral of Mrs. David Baker, whose death occurred at her late home northeast of Lizton, last Monday. She was a daughter of the late Elias Leach, and a sister to the wife of Hon. Charles Foley, who formerly lived at Danville.
