An accident involving a rope and a tree, claimed the life of Jeffrey Alan Martin, 11, of Rt.1, Sunday evening. The boy’s body was found at 6 p.m. under a tree by his brother, David. The youth had been playing in the tree with a rope. A rope burn was found on his neck. The family home is northeast of Monroe. Tippecanoe county Deputy coroner, Dr. James B. Carpenter, ruled the death accidental. The boy was born in Lafayette and would have been in the seventh grade this coming year. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Martin. He was active in the Methodist Youth Fellowship. Surviving with the parents and brother are two sisters, Rita and Nancy, both at home.
