Annette Noble Cox, age 86, of Ocean Springs, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2010 at St. Catherine's Village in Jackson where she had resided for two years.

Annette grew up in Fountainbleau and graduated from Ocean Springs High School in 1942. Soon thereafter she married Madison (Matt) Cox of Biloxi. After a brief time in California they returned to the coast and started a family and careers; Matt in Law Enforcement and Annette in Administrative Services. During the 1950's she worked in the Chancery Clerk's office as well as in other assignments in the Jackson County Court House in Pascagoula. She joined the Employment Services Department of Ingalls Shipbuilding Corporation as a secretary in 1960. She remained with Ingalls until her retirement in 1986. Annette was in many ways a Renaissance woman. She was promoted into management in the Human Resources Department and became the first woman to be accepted into the 1000 member Ingalls Management Association. She was the first woman to be elected vice president and subsequently president of the Association. She was active in local social, civic, and professional organizations, and having ultimately served as President of the Mississippi Business and Professional Women's Club. She was very active in the Ocean Springs Merry Makers Mardi Gras Organization for two decades, having developed themes, designed costumes, and served in various leadership positions. She was Queen of the Merry Makers in 1972. Following retirement Annette and Matt joined the RV crowd and traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada where they made many new friends. Annette was preceded in death by Matt after 62 years of marriage.

She is survived by her three children Dr. Jo Ann Crimm and her husband, Dr. Harlon Crimm of Marietta, GA; Dean Cox and his wife, Glenda Cox of Conroe, TX; Dr. Gay Crosby and her husband, Dr. Mickey Crosby of Jackson, MS. Additionally she is survived by six grandchildren; Jeff Crimm and Kristi, Dr. Ashley Estapa and Chris, Sherry Cousins and Bill, Dean Cox Jr. and Heather, Haley Crosby, and Tate Crosby. Eight great grandchildren include Madison Crimm, Hannah Crimm, Will Crimm, Samantha Cousins, Cassidy Cox, Cameron Cox, Eli Estapa, and Jack Estapa. She is also survived by her brother Royce Noble and sister Joyce Schmelling of Ocean Springs.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 29, 2010, from 5:30 pm until 8 pm, at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. On Thursday, December 30, 2010, there will be a 10 am church service at the First Baptist Church of Ocean Springs. Burial will follow in Southern Memorial Park.
