Elizabeth Shirley, born 8 Oct 1842 in Aghadowey Parish, Londonderry died 27 Jan 1910 in PA. She married (in about 1861) John Blawn, who was born 10 August 1844 in Ireland and died 28 Jun 1916 in Bethlehem, PA.

As a very young woman Elizabeth Shirley would likely have joined her mother and sisters in doing fine needlework as the way to support the family. Elizabeth was the third child to arrive in the U.S. She arrived in 1860, joining her sisters Isabella and Jane. After Elizabeth married, the Blawn family lived in Bethlehem, PA, where John worked at the blast furnaces, making iron.

In the 1870 Catasauqua, PA census, John and Elizabeth had living with them Valentine & Alexander Shirley (her brothers), a 4-year old male named Shirley, and William McMurtree (possibly Elizabeth's cousin, though none of that family is thought to have come to the U.S.). 1900 Census, South Bethlehem, Ward 3, says John came to the USA in 1860, worked as a day laborer, was unemployed for 6 months in the past year, could not read or write English. Elizabeth was also illiterate.

Their children were:
John Shirley Blawn, born 10 Aug 1864
Valentine S. Blawn, born 6 Mar 1867
William Blawn, born 1870
Annie Jane Blawn, born 1872
Elizabeth B. Blawn, born May 1874
George Orr Blawn, born 18 Mar 1876
Margaret F. Blawn, born May 1880
Isabella Blawn, born May 1882
James Blawn, born Dec 1884
