George was a Private First Class in the US Army during WW II between 15 May 1946 and 15 May 1947.

In the 1940 census, George lived at 3036 Downing Street, Denver county, Denver, Colorado.

From a letter of Harry to Vivian:
"Harry Ewing wrote of his brother, George, 'At the first part of World War II, he served as a Machinist at PEARL HARBOR. When his Draft Number came up, he was REJECTED - 4-F. Was disappointed and joined the MERCHANT MARINES and served there until the fall of 1945. He was then RE-CALLED for the Draft, accepted and served about 2 years in THE OCCUPATION ARMY."

George & his wife Charlotte had 3 children, Mardell, Marlene & Bonnie.
