BAKER - Polly (Beale), of Millis, died at Clark House, Westwood, December 7, 2002, in her 94th year. Daughter of the late Arthur Messinger and Louise Miller Beale, she was the widow of Talbot Baker who predeceased her in 1967. Polly is survived by her brother Benjamin Beale and his family of Westwood, three sons; Nicholas Jordan Baker of Weston, Talbot, Jr. (Toby) Baker of Pocasset, Benjamin Beale Baker and his wife Deborah of South Dartmouth and her daughter Hope Lincoln Baker of Boston. She also leaves five grandchildren, Edward Benson Baker, Barbara (Bee) B. Tracey, Jennifer (Bonnie) B. Pohlig, Andrew Stevens Baker, Alexander Lothrop Baker and four great-grandchildren. A life-long sailor, Polly sailed Trans-Atlantic when she was 76 years old and loved sailing Buzzards Bay and up and down the New England coast on Barcarole, the family boat. She also devoted countless hours to many favorite organizations; MSPCC (The Glad Rags Thrift Shop in Westwood), MSPCA, The Colonial Dames and The Winsor School among others. Burial will be private. A celebration of Polly's life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either The Winsor School, Pilgrim Rd., Boston, MA 02215 or the Society of the Colonial Dames (Comm. of MA), 55 Beacon St., Boston, MA 02108.
