Benjamin was the son of Locelia (Sparks) and Ira Asarah Selden.
Ben married Amanda Jane Martin in Ionia County Jan. 9, 1853. Mr. Selden was a successful farmer in Eagle, Michigan.
He was the father of Rufus, Jane, John, Alice and Alma.
