Ruby S. Douglas, 88, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, December 8, 2004 at Fitzgerald Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00pm, Friday, December 10, 2004, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with Rev. David Price officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Douglas was born November 7, 1916, in Elberton, Georgia, to John Singleton and Cynthia Louise (Lula) Gunter Smith. She lived in the community most of her life. Mrs. Douglas was a homemaker, a former employee of the Monarch Company, Irwin Manufacturing Company and she kept children in her home. Mrs. Douglas was a member of the Fitzgerald Church of God.

Mrs. Douglas is survived by one son and three daughters: Paul Bennie Douglas, Alva Jean Douglas, Nell D. Johnson and Betty Jo Costa, all of Fitzgerald; three grandchildren and one great grandchild; one brother: J.B. Smith, Fitzgerald; two sisters: Lois Parsons, Fitzgerald and Lou Robinson, Jacksonville, FL;. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Douglas.
