Mr. Sherrod
Henry Floyd Sherrod, 86, Decatur, formerly of Tuscumbia, died Thursday after an extended illness.
He was a native of Colbert County, a graduate of the former Florence Norman College (now the University of North Alabama), and attended Peabody College, Nashville. He was an educator for many years and served as principal of schools at Eva and Woodville, Ala. He was in real estate after retiring from education.
He served as a Morgan County delegate and Presidential elector for several terms, was commander of American Legion Post 15, Decatur, a life member of the Civitan Club, director for the Salvation Army and a member of Central Methodist Church, Decatur.
Survivors include a son, Floyd Sherrod Jr.; daughter, Mrs. Ester Lee Sandlin, McLean, Va., sisters, Mrs. John E. Whitlcok, Mrs. Joe Foster, Mrs. Charles Lee, all of Tuscumbia; brothers, Oscar P. Sherrod, Shreveport, La., and Herbert Sherrod, Tuscumbia.
The funeral and burial took place in Decatur.
