William Henry Hensley, 78, of Grottoes, died Sept. 9, 2003, at Harrisonburg Health & Rehabilitation Center in Harrisonburg, where he had been a resident since May of this year.

Mr. Hensley was born Aug. 23, 1925, in Rockingham County near Elkton, and was the son of the late Stephen Brunk and Mary Allen Hensley.

He was a life member of the VFW Post 4698 in Grottoes and retired from Westinghouse, where he worked for over 30 years.

Mr. Hensley is survived by a daughter, Sandra Elaine Hensley and husband, Carl, of Mount Crawford; a brother, Charles E. Hensley and wife, Jackoline, Elkton; five sisters, Annie Hensley and husband, Randolph, Irene Miller and husband, Lawrence, Ellen Williams and husband, Edward, Louise Goines, Evelyn Brill, all of Elkton; two grandchildren, Natasha Hensley, Jessica Hensley, both of Mount Crawford.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Elkton. The Rev. Alda Gunn will conduct the service. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens near Harrisonburg.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7 to 8 at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the home of his daughter, Sandra Hensley in Mount Crawford at any time.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 611 Executive Boulevard, Rockville, Md., 20852.
