KERNERSVILLE - Sandra Key Dunbar, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away Saturday, December 25, 2010, age 67, at her home. Sandra was born on March 21, 1943 in Newport News, Virginia to Gilmer King and Dorothy Midkiff Key. She was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church and was very devoted to her family. Sandra was preceded in death by father. Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Jesse "Buck" Dunbar, of the home; her mother; a son, Brian Dunbar (Leah) of Lexington; two daughters, Denise Phelps (John) of Kernersville and Janet West (Phillip) of Kernersville; five grandchildren, Tori, Jesse, Savanah, Dalton and Brianna; and a host of loving friends. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Roberson and the Rev. Frank Shumate officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Mt. Airy. The family will receive friends from 7 9 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home Kernersville Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103, or Gospel Light Christian School, P. O. Box 38, Walkertown, NC 27051.
