PFC. WILLIAM WINSLOW KILLED IN WAR ACTION
Pfc. William Howard Winslow, son of Mrs. Beaulah Winslow of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Clifford Winslow of Mansfield, has been killed in action in the European [microfilm smudge through line, unreadable].
Winslow, who enlisted in the Army in October, 1942 and was transferred to the Rangers after being sent overseas in March, 1943, was last heard from in North Africa.
The private attended school in Texas and Marshfield and was graduated from SHS in 1942. (Springfield Daily News, Springfield, MO, Friday Morning, Jan. 7, 1944, p. 16, Col. 2).

Funeral services of PFC. William Howard Winslow, Marshfield, who died of wounds December 1, 1943, received in action in Italy, will be held at St. John's Methodist church in Marshfield Wednesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Officiating will be the Rev. F.L. Standard of Webb City and the Rev. Joe Penn Pritchett of Marshfield.
Burial will be in the Marshfield cemetery, under direction of Rainey, with the Marshfield American Legion post in charge.
The youth was born in Marshfield January 5, 1924, attended public schools in Marshfield and Wichita Falls, Texas, and was graduated from Springfield Senior High in 1942. He enlisted in the service in October, 1942, underwent training at Fort Knox, Ky., and saw service in the African and Sicilian campaigns before participating in the Anzio beachead in Italy.
Only survivors are his father, Clifford Winlsow, of Mansfield, and his mother, Mrs. Beulah E. Dupras, of Los Angeles. (Springfield Leader & Press, Springfield, MO, Sunday, Sept. 19, 1948, p. D4, Col. 5-6, Deaths).
