FENNEN,
George Henry

Went to be with his Saviour on December 22nd, 2010. He was a beloved father and grandfather, and he will be dearly missed.
He was born May 28, 1921, in Spokane, Washington, to George Henry and Mable Fennen.
George grew up with younger brothers Bruce and Frank on the family homestead on Pleasant Prairie, and around the Spokane area.
He worked various jobs in his youth: setting charges at the Sunshine Mine in Kellogg, ID when he was only 16, serving in the Merchant Marines on Catalina Island with entertainer Phil Harris, welding in the Tacoma shipyards.
George met the love of his life, the young and beautiful Maxine Maggard, and he knew he had found the one woman for him. They were wed on October 15, 1943.
Daughter Nancy was born in July of 1944, and in December of 1946, son Ted joined the family. The young family spent their early years on the same Pleasant Prairie land that George had lived on, and his father before him. They later moved to the Spokane Valley .
After raising their family, George and Maxine then moved to their dream home on the Pend Oreille River and enjoyed many wonderful years hosting grandchildren's visits and family holidays at their "resort".
George worked for more than 30 years at Kaiser Aluminum Mead Works, retiring from his job as a maintenance foreman in 1982. He and Maxine loved traveling in their motor home and also took a number of cruises together, so very happily married.
George was preceded in death by his cherished wife Maxine, and his brother Bruce Fennen. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Carlson, and her husband Mark, of Rochester, Washington; his son Ted Fennen of Spokane, Washington; and his brother Frank Nelson of Lake Forest Park, Washington, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
