Helen Redies died April 18, 1988 at the Poplar Living Center in Casper, Wyoming after a long illness. She was born March 11, 1904 near Luverne, Minnesota to George and Hilke Wolthoff. In 1909 the family moved to Tripp County, south of Dallas, South Dakota to homestead.

On October 24, 1925 she married Harry Redies at Colome, South Dakota. They farmed south of Colome near the Nebraska state line near Wewela, South Dakota for a number of years. During World War II, Mrs. Redies worked in the canneries in Sacramento, California.

They returend to South Dakota following the war and formed a construction company with Sam Forgey. They constructed many earthen dams. They later moved to Springview, Nebraska where she was a custodian at the Springview Grade School. Her husband preceded her in death in 1974.

When her health began to fail, she moved to Casper in 1985 to live with her daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Forgey.

Mrs. Redie was a member of the Hi-Landers Extension Club in Springview.

She left to mourn her passing her daughter, Phyllis Forgey of Casper, Wyoming; her son Harry Redies of Urbana, Missouri, a twin brother, George Wolthoff of Colome, South Dakota; two sisters, Christine Miller of Winner, South Dakota and Byky Horton of Gregory, South Dakota; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
