Hertha Pauline (Stein) Anderson, 82, Rush City, died Wednesday, May 9, 2001 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Rush City. She was born on May 13, 1918 in Weber, North Branch Township. Isanti County, the daughter of Gustav and Pauline Stein.

Hertha was baptized at St. John's Lutheran Church in Weber on May 26, 1918. Her confirmation was on June 12, 1932. She married Claude Anderson of Spring Lake at St. John's on Sept. 28, 1940.

The Andersons became residents of Rush City in the early 1940s, and Claude began a long employment record with Land O'Lakes Creameries, holding a number of positions over the years. Hertha was a retail clerk at a number of local businesses and the couple was devoted to their home garden and yard.

For a few years in mid-1960s, they owned and operated a Dairy Queen at Morris, after which Claude resumed employment with Land O'Lakes.

The Andersons were active members of First Lutheran Church of Rush City, teaching Sunday School and ushering for many years.

More recently, they were members of St. John's Lutheran Church of Rush City. On April 29, 2001, the new Rodgers organ at St. John's was dedicated and was a gift from Hertha in memory of Claude, who died on Feb. 13, 1996.

Funeral services were held on Monday, May 14, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Rush City. Pastoral assistant Steve Scheff officiated. Congregational hymns were sung, to the accompaniment of the organ, played by Dick Scheele.

Casketbearers were Warren Olson, Dick Lindig, Fred Engler, Chuck Olson, Harley Enzenauer and Arnie Christenson.
