ARNOLD, GEORGE WILLIAM — George William Arnold, son of George Christian Arnold and Lizzie Mueller Arnold, was born November 27, 1890, in Lanham, Kas.
He passed away at the Bryan Memorial hospital in Lincoln at the age of 88 years, 8 months and 27 days.
He was united in marriage to Emma Edna Sandman on June 26, 1912 and to them seven children were born. Emma passed away in February of 1963. George later married Rose Koca Kubicek.
He is survived by his wife, Rose; his children, LaVerne O of Arlington, Tex., Dale D. of buffalo, N.Y., Merle L. of Tribune, Kas., Mrs. Fred (Naomi) Nunns of Geneva, Mrs. Mildred Reed of San Diego, Cal., Mrs. Doris Zimmerman of Lincoln, and Maurice L. of Omaha.
He is also survived by his 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Fred of Lincoln and Walter of Pt. St. Lucie, Fla.; and five sisters, Mrs. Bertha Selk of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Ann Root of Corona, Cal., Mrs. Dorothy Forsberg of Madison, Wis., Mrs. Louise Schnuelle of Grand Island and Mrs. Hilda Miller of Joliet, Ill.
Funeral services were conducted from the First congregational United Church of Christ in Geneva at 2 p.m., Thursday, August 23, 1979, with Rev. Marshal Hinds officiating. Mrs. Willard Foster accompanied Mrs. Alvin Rizer who sang, “How Great Thou Art” and “Take My Hand, Precious Lord.”
Pallbearers were Ben Fussell, Robert Nunns, Alvin Rizer, Jesse Graham, Earl Sherman and Chester Dudley. Honorary pallbearers were John Fahlberg, William Gratopp, Vernon Dearking, Lambert Hopken, Virgil McWain and James V. Koca. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery next to his wife Emma.
